Veteran TV actor John Nettles returns to his RSC roots giving voice to ‘Reynard‘ - a contemporary retelling of the medieval fox tale.

Part migrant story, part road movie, the historic allegory of deception and trickery is reimagined in modern, epic poetry.

John Nettles is best known for his TV work, in particular the title role in ‘Bergerac’ (1981–1991) and as Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby in ‘Midsomer Murders’ (1997–2011). He is, though, no stranger to literary projects voicing audio books and recording ‘The Nations Favourite Poems’ for the BBC.

This collaboration with poet Jan Noble comes after the pair first worked together on a live, 24 hour reading of Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ and returns poetry to the fluent grooves of the vinyl format, reminiscent of Burton’s mellifluous readings of Dylan Thomas.

“Reynard arrived with the orange sun riding on his back and his past woven into the golden fibres of his stooping shoulders…”

Includes digital pre-order of Reynard. The moment the album is released you’ll get unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.
